My name is Caitlyn Trelford, a graphic designer located in beautiful Barrie, ON. Whether it's logo design, branding, advertising, or anything you can dream up, I'm here to help bring your creative visions to life. My journey to graphic design has been anything but a straight forward one, but I do not think I would be so truly happy in this profession if the path was an easy one.

 

Prior to getting into graphic design, I studied at Brock University where I acquired two Bachelor's degrees in Child and Youth Studies, and my Primary/Junior Education through their Concurrent Education program. After graduating from teaching, although I loved the kids I kept feeling as I was being pulled in another direction creatively. Despite my love for the profession, I kept going back to thinking about a career in the arts and design. Being "artistic" has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Whether it was competitively dancing, singing, playing piano, drawing or doing handmade projects, I had always felt myself drawn to anything that involved being artistic or creating a design. 

 

After taking a year off after graduating and becoming a full-time nanny, I had the time to realize exactly what I wanted to pursue and that lead me to graphic design. Although I knew this is what I wanted, I had some serious planning to figure out my next steps of how I was going to do achieve that dream. I decided to enroll in the one year Art and Design Fundamentals certificate program through Georgian College to enhance my art skills, while also forming an entry portfolio that would be needed for acceptance into the Graphic Design program. Immediately after graduating from the Art and Design Fundamentals program, I applied to Georgian's Graphic Design program. I immediately got accepted into the three-year program and was instantly hooked on design ever since.

 

I couldn't be happier with the changes I have made, and I have truly found something that makes my heart soar. There's nothing better than designing and bringing someone's vision to life. Design allows me to push myself further than I ever thought was possible, and it's a new experience every single day. It was the best choice I could've made, and I look forward to the possibilities within the industry as I continue to grow.
